Galilee Ministry Goals

Our goal is to magnify the Lord and EXALT His name together, through Proclamation, Praise, Worship and the Arts.

Our goal is to EDUCATE disciples through Christian Education, Computer Education, Life Application Bible Study, Discipleship Classes, Educating The Christian Institute (ETCI), Afterschool/Day Care, Health Education, Financial Seminars, Summer Enrichment, Literacy and Writing Awareness Programs.

• Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  II Timothy 2:14-16 (KJV)

Our goal is to EMPOWER God’s people by offering Salvation, Discipleship training, professional development opportunities such as Workforce Readiness, Business/Retail Development, Job Training, GED Classes, Housing Initiatives and a Leadership/Fine Arts Academy.

Ministries & Ministry Opportunities

Associate Ministers (Exaltation)

The Associate Ministers assist the Pastor in fulfilling his role as the primary spiritual leader, vision caster, pastor and teacher of the church. They assist the senior pastor with projects as requested and participate in leading the Church as requested.
Spiritual Gifts: Exhortation, Administration, and Teaching

Deacons Ministry (Encouragement & Empowerment)

The Deacons assist the pastor in the administration of the ordinances, strengthen the hand of the pastor in his labors, and in concert with him, exercise a general watch care of the spiritual interest of the church. Deacons must meet the qualifications set forth in I Timothy. They serve the Lord’s Supper, assist baptismal candidates, visit the sick and shut- ins of the church and serve as Tribe Leaders. They lay a foundation for a ministry that focuses on the will of God and the needs of others.

Deaconess Ministry (Encouragement & Empowerment)

The Deaconess consists of women elected and approved by the Church body that were called to foster spiritual growth and to provide faithful support to the pastor, the deacons and the congregation.

Trustees (Empowerment)

Trustees hold in trust all property belonging to the church and take measures for the protection and management of the same. They serve on the Parking Team and coordinate the Transportation Ministry. Trustees are responsible for external and internal security. They are elected and approved by the Church.

Beautification (Enjoyment)

This ministry provides flowers, natural plants and maintains the decor in the Sanctuary and entrance areas. They are responsible for decoration for all events and special occasions.

Missions (Empowerment & Encouragement)

The Missionary Ministry oversees the mission’s activities of the church and coordinates mission endeavors, which include providing financial assistance with food, clothing, shelter, utilities and medicine.
Spiritual Gifts: Mercy, Service, Giving, and Administration

This component of the mission’s ministry ships barrels of items such as clothing or personal toiletries to our brothers and sisters in foreign countries such as Liberia. Members donate items for projects.
Bereavement (Education & Encouragement)

Bereavement Ministry seeks to be a source of encouragement and support to those who are experiencing the loss of a loved one. This ministry has five components to include: Crisis Team, Visitation Team, Nurturing Team, Follow-up Team, and Grief Recovery.
Christian Education/ ETCI (Education)

The Christian Education Ministry is a growing area of our church, which seeks to combat biblical ignorance through the in-depth study of God's word. The goal of the Christian Education Ministry is to provide an educational outlet to the church ministries by planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive Christian education program that will train leaders to work in God's ministries.
The focus areas of this ministry are: Sunday School, Noon-Day Bible Study, Word on Wednesday, Vacation Bible School, ETCI Small Group Classes, Straight Talk Men’s Bible Study, Tribe Called Quest Young Adult Bible Study, HOPE at Galilee Afterschool, Summer Enrichment.

CLICK-Children's Ministry(Encouragement, Enjoyment and Empowerment)

CLICK is a children’s program for grades K through 5 designed to present Christian character quality traits, such as Patience, Kindness, Forgiveness, Helpfulness, Thankfulness, etc. The program uses puppets, music and rhymes, Bible story videos and crafts to reinforce these values. Weekly Bible Study, Enrichment and fun activities are a vital part of the program. Children’s Church on the 3rd Sunday morning (during the 10:40AM service) provides an avenue for children to worship God with their peers in an environment tailored to them.

Media (Exaltation, Encouragement, and Enjoyment)
The Media Team is comprised of two entities, the Audio Team and the Video Team.

Sound Technicians (Audio Team)
The tape & sound technicians are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the church audio systems in a manner, which results in the highest quality sound production. The ministry also includes the audio taping of the services for those who cannot attend or for those who want a copy of the service to share with others.

Video Team Multimedia Ministry

The purpose of this team is to enhance the ministry of our church through multimedia. The Ministry creates, designs, and displays our presentations during the services and for various special events. Multimedia includes the use of sound, video, and interactive visual displays to enhance our church’s ministry goals.

Culinary (Enjoyment)

The Culinary Ministry purchases and prepares food for all church events. They are also responsible for maintaining the kitchen appearance, cleanliness and making recommendations for equipment repair or replacement at church meetings. Additionally, they are responsible for greeting guests as they are served and dining; as well as, making members and guest feel comfortable during events.
Evangelism (Encourage & Empowerment)

The Ministry is organized for the purpose of creating and maintaining outreach opportunities.
The Evangelism Ministry witness and share the Word of God. Members serve at Nursing Home, Prison, Jail and Hospitals.

New Discipleship Class(Education)

The Ministry provides an embracive and supportive environment to new members through close spiritual relationships within the first 30 days at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church as well as a Biblical foundation for new members in the areas of Beliefs, Stewardship, Spiritual Gifts and Leadership.

Greeters (Enjoyment & Encouragement)

Greeters welcome church members and visitors as they enter the Church. They provide direction to various sites in the Church. This ministry is composed of new members only whose service provides preparation for joining other ministries.
The purpose of the Hospitality Ministry is to offer the love of Christ to our guests and welcome them in such a way that they would be transform from strangers into friends.

IMPACT- Young Adults (Encouragement, Empowerment and Enjoyment)

IMPACT: Individuals Making Proposed Advancements Causing Transformation is the arm of the Church designed for young adults. The purpose is to connect and empower young adults in the church and local community. They serve as role models and mentors to the young adults on local campuses.

COLLEGE CENTRAL: Our mission as a college ministry is to lead students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Our desire is to see this fulfilled through students leading other students. We have incredible opportunities for college students to get involved.

Worship and Arts Ministry (Exaltation)

The Worship and Arts Ministry of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church is committed to promoting the worship of God in spirit (reverence, attentiveness, right purpose of honoring God) and in truth (God’s word) through the arts. It is our goal to inspire, encourage, train, and direct those whom God has called into the worship ministry with a spirit of service and excellence.
Our worship is focused on the following: Glorify, Honor, Praise and Exalat

Men (Education, Encouragement and Empowerment)

The Men’s Ministry is comprised of all men in the Church. They seek to adhere to the mission of the church by reaching out to males in the congregation and community to grow as disciples and to spread the love of God through fellowship, Most of all they strive to strengthen men in their faith and glorify God through worship.
Ministry of Health(Education, Encouragement and Empowerment)

The Ministry of Health is responsible for promoting healthful living through disease prevention, health education and by promoting healthy lifestyles. This Nurses Ministry is a component of the Ministry of Health.

Mother's Board (Encouragement)

The Mothers Board is made of Godly women aged seventy years of age and older who have served God through many years of service. They assist with Baby dedications, advise new mothers, provide a support system for the First Family and encouragement and nurturing to members. Appointed by the Pastor and Board of Directors.
Nursey (Education)

Nursery workers supervise infants and pre-toddlers during the regular services of the church and some activities and programs. Children cannot receive services until parents have provided vital information and must volunteer in the Nursery a minimum of once a month. A Nursery Manual is available.

Prayer (Exalt & Empowerment)

The Ministry is responsible for providing the opportunity for individuals to pray for the needs of our congregation and to petition for special needs. This Ministry coordinates with the Pastors and assists in prayer needs and services of church. The Ministry is only for those who believe in the power of prayer.

Recreation (Enjoyment)

The Recreation Ministry exists to help every player develop character, sportsmanship and respect for authority. To build confidence and personal value. To teach the players the fundamentals of sports and help them have a healthy, fun experience with each sport. And to help every player to grow spiritually, physically, mentally and socially. We provide opportunities for exercise, Bowling and Softball.
Safety (Empowerment)

The Safety Team is responsible for assisting in crisis situations and for continual assessment of safety policies and procedures. Team members are equipped with the skills necessary to ensure the safety of members and visitor
Spiritual Gifts: Knowledge, Service, Helps, and Administration
Scouts (Empowerment)

The Scouts Troops at Galilee include the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and all age level groups from Cubs and Brownies to the Ambassadors level. Its purpose is to provide positive experiences to help youth learn the art of good leadership, building character, confidence and courage to make the world a better place Training and background checks are required.

The Seniors Ministry is designed for members sixty-five years of age and older to engage in activities that will enhance their spiritual, physical, cultural, social and emotional growth and development. All seniors are a part of this Ministry.
SWAGG - Youth Ministry(Empowerment, Education and Encouragement)

SWAGG (Soldiers Worshipping According To God’s Glory) is for all youth of the church grades six through twelfth grade. The purpose of the Ministry is to assist youth in understanding how to pray, apply the word of God to their lives and to build confidence. Developing productive, fully developed Christian role models is a goal. Youth Church provides an opportunity for youth to worship with their peers on the 3rd Sunday during the Worship Services.

Transportation (Exaltation & Empowerment)

The Transportation Ministry’s sole responsibility is to ensure that individuals who need a way to church arrive on time to services and are returned to their point of origin when services conclude. The members of this committee must have a valid driver's license and go through an orientation to the church vehicle (s) and procedures for fueling and checking the vitals.

The Usher Ministry, which includes adults, youth and children, are responsible for ensuring that members are welcomed into the sanctuary and are led to a pew. They are also responsible for making sure that everyone respects the sanctity of the worship service by not walking or entering the sanctuary during inappropriate times. They may assist with offering collection, providing fans, helping parents with children, picking up the sanctuary after services).

Women (Empowerment & Encouragement)

The Women’s Ministry seeks to enrich the lives of women through spiritual and emotional growth in an atmosphere of love and encouragement and to connect with God and each other through worship and fellowship. All women of the Church belong to this Ministry
